Holy Week Blessings – St. Nick’s News April 17, 2025

Full St. Nick’s News for April 17, 2025

Dear Friends –

There are weeks—and then there is Holy Week.

This is the week that tells the truth about the human heart. It tells the truth about power, about betrayal, about sorrow, and about hope that refuses to die.

Here at St. Nick’s, we don’t just remember these stories.
We live them again.
We gather at the table.
We stand at the cross.
We wait in the quiet.
And when the sun breaks over the horizon, we rise with it.

If you are weary or wondering, if you are hungry for something deeper, or just ready to walk toward the dawn—you are welcome here. Come and take your place in the story.

Maundy Thursday – April 17

“Come to the table.”
On this tender night, Jesus gathers with his friends to share a final meal. He speaks of love, of service, and of a new commandment that will outlast even death. Join us at 5:30pm for a simple Agape Meal where we will also celebrate Holy Eucharist. Bring a Mediterranean dish to share and come ready for communion—of body and spirit.

Good Friday – April 18

“Come to the cross.”
This is the day the sky darkens and the curtain tears.
The day we meet a God who does not look away from suffering.
Join us at 12:00pm for a solemn Good Friday service of scripture and silence, led by Suffragan Bishop Angela Cortinas.
From 2:00–6:00pm, walk the Stations of the Cross at your own pace—an interactive, art-filled experience for all ages. Come with your questions. Come with your sorrow. Come and see.

Holy Saturday – April 19

“Come and wait with hope.”
There is a stillness in this day, a breath held between grief and glory.
We begin with Morning Prayer at 10:00am, and then turn our hearts and hands to prepare our church home for Easter. (If you’d like to help with the offices, yard work, and other normal workday projects – join us at 8:00am. Many hands make light work.)

Easter Sunday – April 20

“Come and rejoice!”
The tomb is empty. The stone is rolled away.
Christ is risen, and love has the last word.
Join us for Sunrise Worship at 6:45am, a quiet, beautiful service to greet the morning light.
At 9:30am, we’ll gather for Festival Eucharist—with music, Word, and wonder.
After worship, stay for an Easter Egg Hunt (don’t forget your baskets and no worries about the weather – the hunt is on inside if needed) and Potluck Brunch. Bring flowers to help us flower the cross, and bring a dish to share.

I pray you will… Come with your joy. Come with your doubts. Come and rejoice with us!

Let us pray…

Almighty God, whose Son walked the road of sorrow to reveal your endless love: Walk with us through the days of this Holy Week. In the breaking of bread, make us grateful. In the shadow of the cross, make us faithful. In every act of service, make us like Christ. Give us grace to watch and wait, that on the third day we may rise with Him to newness of life. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

God’s Peace, Love, and Blessings,
Beth+
