Honoring Tony – St. Nick’s News August 2, 2025
Full St. Nick’s News for August 2, 2025
Dear Friends,
We are, our mission shares, a community of loving, giving, joyful followers of Jesus. We are a people rooted in gratitude, guided by vision, and energized by hope for what God is doing in our midst. This season, we give thanks for one chapter and joyfully anticipate the next.
We are filled with gratitude as we honor Tony Goddard, our faithful Building and Grounds Minister, who is retiring after years of devoted service. Since we purchased Front Porch in 2021, Tony has poured his heart, hands, and wisdom into caring for our sacred space—mending, tending, fixing, teaching, and inspiring. He didn’t just maintain a building; he cultivated a sense of stewardship and empowerment in us all. Whether teaching someone how to handle a power tool, planting Agarita plants, putting up molding, or setting up and caring for our space, Tony helped us live into our vision to “empower all people.” Tony has given faithfully and sacrificially to God through his work at St. Nick’s.
Tony’s ministry reminds us that the church isn’t just a place—it’s a people committed to serving one another in love. We are and will be forever grateful for his work among us, and we are thankful and excited for this new chapter in his life. Tony will now enjoy more time with his grandchildren and beloved wife, Brenda. Tony’s legacy of care and empowerment will remain woven into the fabric of our community.
Join us on Sunday, August 3rd at 8:45am, between the 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM worship services for a special celebration. Bring a card, a memory, or some of Tony’s favorite treats (we hear he’s got a soft spot for Maggie Mae’s cookies!) and help us thank him for his ministry.
As we prepare for the upcoming program year, we’re thrilled to welcome two new partners into our St. Nick’s family:
- T and T Cleaning will now care for the cleanliness of our sacred space, ensuring that gatherings —whether worship, fellowship, or formation—is grounded in hospitality and welcome.
- Happy Roots Homestead Tree Services and Landscapes/Hardscapes will steward our outdoor spaces, keeping our grounds beautiful and inviting, in harmony with our commitment to creation care.
These transitions are a reminder that change can be holy. As one faithful servant retires, new hands and hearts step forward to help us live out our mission.
I invite you to join me in this prayer:
O God, whose love fills every corner of your church, bless this holy place and all who serve within it. Grant us thankful hearts for the labors of the past, open hands for the work ahead, and joyful spirits as we journey together in your name. May this house of worship be a refuge for the weary, a light to the seeker, and a home to all your people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
God’s Peace, Love, and Blessings,
Beth+
