JOY Camp Starts! – St. Nick’s News June 28, 2023

Full St. Nick’s News for June 28, 2023

Dear Friends-

I am excited for JOY Camp that begins today! We have had many volunteers hard at work decorating, cooking, and planning in order to make this a special event. Thank you to everyone who has been giving of their time and to those who have donated supplies and drinks.

We are meeting this Wednesday June 28th through Friday June 30th. We will meet from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Friday will last a little longer for water games. Don’t forget to bring towels, play clothes or swimsuits, and water shoes.

The Dinner team has lovingly planned and prepared wonderful meals for us. Wednesday is Italian night, Thursday will be tacos and nachos and Friday is Pizza. And of course we will have gluten-free options.

This Sunday after church we will be celebrating the 4th of July after worship. You bring the pie and we will supply the coffee, juice, and whipped cream. It is always nice when we make time to gather after church and build our friendships with one another.

You will notice we changed the date of the workday to July 15th. Our new Bishop is being consecrated on the 8th of July at 11:00am at TMI – our diocesan Episcopal High School. All are welcome to attend.

I want to share this prayer of thanks for the summer with you. I do not know the author but have added it to my list of prayers to cherish. May it encourage and inspire you to continue to draw near to God this summer. May God draw near to you so you may feel God’s presence and experience God’s Grace.

Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun
and the increased daylight.
Thank You for the beauty I see all around me
and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation.
Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,
and for the more casual pace of the summer season.
Draw me closer to You this summer.
Teach me how I can pray
no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence
and light my path with Your Word and Counsel.
As I enjoy Your creation, create in me
a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for You.
