Hope Over Fear – St. Nick’s News Oct. 27, 2023
Full St. Nick’s News for October 27, 2023
Dear friends,
This week I have been at our annual Clergy Conference out at Camp Capers. We had a guest speaker who talked about the new ecology of church. It was an affirming and inspiring time for me professionally. We talked about new innovations in ministry and ways we can build practices in our communities of faith in order to live out rich spiritual lives. I loved every minute of it and can’t wait to introduce some of those practices.
Being away also gave me a chance to reflect and give thanks for our life together. I was able to share the ministry happenings at St. Nick’s with colleagues and found myself so filled with gratitude for the faithful friendships being built, the love of Jesus being shared, and the learning taking place for all ages. Thank you for being part of St. Nick’s!
I am looking forward to seeing you this Sunday in worship. This Sunday is a 5th Sunday and our annual Costume Blessing and Halloween party after 9:30am worship. It’s always a day filled with laughter and a reminder for all of us that God is good, holds us close, and the scary things of this world hold little power over Christians who believe in a God of hope and love.
We believe in a God who has conquered death in the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. We believe in a God who meets us in our suffering and stays with us. We believe in a God who is miraculously present with us through each other and the world around us. Through our life together at St. Nick’s we are learning this and experiencing this over and over and over again.
This Sunday, invite your friends, family, grandkids, and neighbors to join us for a blessing and a party. Share the goodness we have in one another and in God with others.
God’s Peace, Love, and Blessings,
Beth+
