Full St. Nick’s News for June 1, 2023
Dear Friends,
Happy Summer! It has been a beautifully full spring for us at St. Nick’s. Actually come to think of it, it has been a beautifully full program year at St. Nick’s! We have experienced so much over this past year and I am full of gratitude for all of the work, prayers, kindness, grace, forgiveness, friendship, joy, and faith that has been witnessed in our community this past year.
I have four things I want to bring to your attention.
- Blessing Bags – we had such a full Sunday this past Sunday we did not get to our blessing bags. Please stay after worship this Sunday and help us put some bags together. These bags will be available to keep in your car for you to share with a neighbor in need of refreshment and care. Thank you to all who donated supplies for the bags and all who decorated them too!
- If you are interested in missions and wonder what the future may hold for us at St. Nick’s to serve beyond our Texas community, consider coming to the Dinner with Rt. Rev. Jonathan Folts, Bishop of South Dakota. On June 7th, he will be speaking of the needs on the Lakota Reservations and churches have been invited to come and learn. A few of us are going and if you are interested you can email Catherine Markette at catherine.markette@dwtx.org and let her know you wish to attend. You can also carpool to the Bishop Jones Center – so let me know if you are coming.
- If you are interested in being a Champion of a ministry/event or desire serving the church in some way, please contact me about your ideas and how you want to serve the church and/or community. If you would like to participate in a Sunday ministry, please sign-up here. We all have gifts and passions to offer. Hiking groups, prayer groups, book studies, dinner groups, knitting, sewing, gardening groups, letter writing groups – all ideas are welcome! What is God calling you to be part of? What is God calling you to create? See me after church on Sunday and tell me about your dreams for our life together.
- I hope to see you on Saturday for our workday. We will be cleaning up the yard – mowing it and finishing up weeding the area near the sheds. We also have donated ice makers to clean up, kitchen clean-up, Sunday School Room organization, and offices ready for sheet rock. Come for the whole time or part of it – breakfast tacos will be waiting for you…
And last but not least, I want to share this prayer for our community. Please join me in praying it for the next week.
Holy Spirit, you delight to equip us with gifts, talents, and passions that we may help you extend the Kingdom of God: Raise up among us and empower those among us whom you call to serve and lead in new and joyous ways. May we all find meaning and belonging and rejoice in the strengthening of the Body of Christ through our love and care for one another and the world around us. May we delight in the transforming love of God made known through our teacher, friend, and Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen
God’s Peace, Love, and Blessings,
Beth+
