Full St. Nick’s News for September 20, 2023
Dear friends,
I want to take time out to tell you about two opportunities we have coming up in our schedule. The first is our Baptism Class on Sunday October 1st, and the second is our Episcopal 101 Classes we have for three Wednesday evenings in October.
Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as God’s children. In the Episcopal Church, baptism is for all ages. Infants, children, youth, and adults, are all invited into the family of God through the service of baptism. The candidates (or their parents) make promises to God and themselves. In the waters of baptism, they are invited to be adopted by God into God’s holy family, the church. The candidates are marked as Christ’s own forever and assured that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
If you or a family member want to learn more about baptism, join me after our 9:30am worship on Sunday, October 1st. We will look at what we believe about baptism, look over the service of baptism, and I will be able to answer any questions you might have.
In addition to baptism classes, we are also offering Episcopal 101 classes this year. Our Episcopal 101 Classes will cover basics on the Episcopal Church including history, our theology, the sacraments, and our prayer book. These classes will be held on October 4th, 11th, and 18th, from 6:30 -7:45pm in the Sunday School room. You can join us for Dinner Church and stay for the class. All are welcome to come and learn more about our Episcopal Tradition – even if you have been a lifelong Episcopalian or have been confirmed in our faith it’s always good to learn and refresh our memories.
Please RSVP to me at 214-213-0739 if you are coming to either of these classes. You can also contact me with any question about the time and/or need for childcare.
God’s Peace, Love, and Blessings,
Beth+
